Eric J. Weibel, RPLU - President
Eric has a degree in Statistical Sciences from the University of California at Santa Barbara, and did graduate work at San Diego State University. He began his insurance career as an actuarial trainee at ICW Group. From there he moved on to Senior Actuarial Analyst at Arrowhead General Insurance Agency followed by a position as Product Manager at Tower Hill Insurance Group. Eric then went on to help found Cabrillo General Insurance Agency of San Diego, serving as Vice President and Chief Actuary. While at Cabrillo he designed and managed successful products for several insurance carriers.
Most recently, Eric's paper, Territory Analysis with Mixed Models and Clustering was published in the Casualty Actuarial Society's 2008 Discussion Paper Program on Predictive Modeling. See www.casact.org/pubs/dpp/dpp08/08dpp91.pdf
Eric is currently involved in several research projects. One addresses technology E&O and cyber risk loss costs. Another addresses the claim frequency patterns of individual doctors and lawyers. Another examines the frequency patterns in personal automobile insurance. Eric is also working on a project examining a new form of E&O exposure to life insurance agents. .
While in college, Eric worked as a statistician for the corporate quality department of a large silicon valley software company. In combination with his actuarial experience and traning as an RPLU and his experience in a General Agency environment, this has given him unique insights into technology risk exposures and potential opportunities to mitigate or insure them.
